You guys would be glad to know that I joined a gym yesterday and tonight, went work out for the first time. It's Physical Fitness. It has, probably the hottest model on its ad....and the fact that I found out that 50% of its member in the Xintiandi location is gay....and apparently lot of its members in my location, xujiahui are also. Yay...and on top of that, it's one of the most reasonably price gym around. But I work out today and yeah....I haven't been inside a gym in so long, it was kinda weird at first. I usually just run outside. But yeah....way too many naked men walking around.....unfortunately it's only the non-attractive asian men that are naked...the delicious white men/wonderbread doesn't do this...well...except that old white guy who took his pants off right in front of my face... ::shudders:: But the treadmills were pack, so I had to use Rachel's favorite machine, the elliptical instead. Did that for half an hour, then grab a treadmill to run for another half an hour. Overall, it was a good workout, sweat like a pig and of course, I would be the one who have like sweat and water all over the treadmill while all the asians around me, their treadmills were clean. Weird thing about China is that the gym would have people walking around the cleaning constantly. I feel bad for the lady who have to clean my treadmill. :(
Oh, back to naked asians story....well everybody...I have to inform you that yellow fever has finally hit me. And since I'm in CHINA, and rarely see any wonderful wonderbread around...it's been an interesting few days so far. And tonight at the gym....oi.... I think I got checked out a few times...but really, anyone who sees me sweat...it's a huge turn off. LOL. Oh and not to mention this gym is inside Metro City, probably one of the LARGEST electronic shopping mall in Shanghai. This place is crazy. It's all about consumerism in Shanghai. I mean, you have 3-D televisions at the end of every escalator. I have never seen a 3-D tv before and I'm in love with it. It's hologram of everything, i just want to touch it. Then there are these crazy fake ipods....it's the iPod nano, but with a longer screen. HILARIOUS. and there's a Best Buy across the street that sells the coolest MP3 players. If you want an MP3 player that's as small as it can get, you can find it here. Or an MP3 players that is entirely screen and you touch to get things....it's sick in the best way possible. And of course, you have KFC covering 3 out of the 4 corners of this giant shopping metropolis. Think every corner there is a high rise shopping center. one KFC is a 2 stories KFC...and the last corner is anchored by a 3 stories MacDonald....why would you need a 3 stories MacDonald is beyond me. And inside Metro City, it has probably the coolest food court ever. You can go to different restaurants or if so choose, you can just buy a prepaid card and hand it over to any of the millions restaurant shops around. Noodles, dumplings, stir fries....i don't even know what is going on...it's like food on steroid. That's my exciting find of the week. But enough about food.....
Lets see what else is new with me...well I picked this wonderful restaurant for Nick's b-day dinner on Monday. It was recommended in my Lonely Planet guide book and it certainlly didn't disappoint. It's called Dongbei Ren ( Man of the north east) and what wonderful about this restaurant is that the servers will SING to you during your meal. Wonderful wonderful. And we had a bug dish...well not so much bug as fragrant fried larvae. I thought it was delicious...creamy on the inside, chewy on the outside, but the people who ordered it didn't like it so I wasn't about to sit there and eat all of it. But had plenty of delicious food. It was good time with Nick, Josh, Theresa, Alex ( theresa's boss) and Carl ( theresa's boss also??) I might have a tiny little crush on Carl already and this is the first time I hang out with him. I have only met him briefly. He's from Texas while everybody else is from England. He's such great gay man that I imagine myself as once I hit...35. lol. But yeah, there's some pictures of it. One of it is Josh, Theresa and I on that fateful Saturday night before the horrendous rain before the airbar. But yeah, the rest is of the b-day party. Nick is the bald one. He got the tiny waitress to feed him noodles ( as a tradition of good luck) And you can probably tell who Karl is... ::sighs:: lol. Oh and one picture is of Nick blowing the flame out of this sweet and sour fish....only in china. :) Not to mention that night, Nick, Carl and I enjoyed some bijou. It's chinese rice wine. It's really strong alcohol...and smells wonderful. The taste...I called it like Glade plug-in and Febreeze all mix together. My breath smells very nice after that.
Enjoy all.
