love/hate

Well everybody, another wonderful entry on the blog that chronicle my life in Shanghai....

I'm beginning to develop a love/hate relationship with Shanghai. It has been/still is a bad week for Trinh. This week haven't been that thrilling for me...work sux majorly as you guys know...and in my own personal life...it haven't been so great either. Lets see....I got into an accident riding my bike, crashing into the back of a moped...having shitty days at work, and will be going into work tomorrow at 10 in the morning...on sunday. But there are moments when I'm ok with myself in Shanghai...like on Friday morning riding to work where I rode past a giant truck that has been transformed into a dragon boat with people beating drums...only in Shanghai. Went to an amazing vegetarian restaurant where they make tofu and vegetables into meat-like thing....walk around Remin Park in People's Square, saw the water fountain dance to the music, children playing and lovers on park benches....

But I just got home from...another random Saturday night going out in Shanghai. It has been raining all day, and I have been out all day. But tonight, we ( Josh, Theresa, Nick and I) all met up at the wonderful vegetarian restaurant to have a nice dinner. Of course everyone was skeptical about my choices in restaurant because everyone is a meat eater and they hate veggies. I didn't disappoint them when the chicken dish came out tasting...quite like chicken. But we struggle finding a cab afterward, but did manage to find some amazing street stalls selling food...only in Shanghai. We were suppose to go to the Airbar which is an open bar that Theresa and I could get in for free with our Q5 card. This turns out to be the most horrible experience of the night. Finding the place was tough...you can't seem to find a taxi during the rain storm in Shanghai. We walked forever, being drenched in water, finally found a taxi which at this point I was giving up. But somehow we end up at the airbar....got in, and waited FOREVER to get our drinks from the open bar. I chugged down my vodka and pineapple, then move on to the 18 beers that we triple ordered just so we don't have to go to the bar again. It was quite hot in the bar, and stupid techno music. And asian girls can't dance if their life depends on it. ( Seems to be a trend here...) And as always, it's a sausage fest of straight men and not enough girls. Hotter than hell in the air bar, we quickly left...then Josh and theresa wanted to go bowling....which Nick and I shot down. Then Nick suggested that we could go and meet up with this guy that I met at the BBQ that wanted me to join him at the gay bar.... we found a taxi, went there, then people just want to go home....and then just turn the taxi around to go home. Then somehow people are fighting in the backseat...again....a repeat of last time...and somehow we're all fighting and I'm in the middle....It's a dumb fight and I get blamed for always defending Nick.... Oi.... Normally I'm the high strung person, but when I'm buzzed, I get kinda mellow and now I'm being caught in a fight for just being too chilled. LOL. So silly....

So hopefully everyone will be ok tomorrow...like always. I have to report to work bright and early....such is the life of a graphic designer. Perhaps no more architecture firm for Trinh after this? I'll just go into advertising firms instead? Although I did hear Theresa talking to her mate and she was stuck at her firm all weekend finishing up something for the KFC account....joyous....

Anyway, it's thunderstorming outside, I should be in bed. I was feeling a bit of a funk on friday night so I went home early and clean the house and did laundry...so the house is quite clean....I can't wait to nest....I'm getting tire of moving to different places all the time. It's moment like these that makes me long for the day when I'm stable in my life and not so much....single man living in a city by himself working to get by anymore. LOL. Perhaps snagging a rich husband? LOL. Goodnight all. Will try to take some pictures soon for you guys.
