That's my latest chinese acquisition. It means " i don't have". Well, actually it means alot more than that. It's a phrase that you can say to negate something. For example: " Have you been to Hong Kong?" " Meiyo" that would mean " No, I haven't been." Or "Have you eaten yet?" "Meiyou" that would be " no, I haven't eaten yet." Interesting yes???
Anyhow...where to begins...I can't really see my blog since China blocks it, so I just have to write and hopefully I didn't repeat stuffs. I got hit on by a prostitute on Saturday night...Then Sunday, I went and get my bike at this grocery store that I met theresa at back near her old apartment. Found that the bike was super cheap there, got one for 199 kuai and had to add on a basket for it. I LOVE MY BASKET on my bike. So cute and convienent. I could put my man purse in it and go. As you can tell from the pictures, it was quite hot, but i'm happy with my "ride."
Sunday night I went with Josh to his friend's, Eric, house for a BBQ. Here's the weird thing: Eric is from Spain, when I showed up, found out that Eric is asian, but from Spain. His sister, Andrea ( whom Josh has a thing for) lives in NYC for a long time and planning to go back. Met a bunch of different people there. Met Chloe aka Coco whom Josh has been "going out" with to keep it simple. Then Chloe's friend, Joi, who is an Shanghainese who lived in London for a while and just got back to Shanghai. Met Tom, Ben ( and his twin brother whom I can't remember his name) and Ben's other brother, Alex, all from London. Met Leslie, who's an Asian-American from somewhere..., Libby, who's from New Hampshire, went to college at Carnegie Mellon with Leslie. Also met a Canadian girl, forgot her name, who owns an art gallery in Shanghai. Chatted with another Alex, who is from NYC but works for Doctor without borders, lived in Beijing for like 6 years. Who else...Fatima who is French but half Moroccan, and her roommate, who is also French, but originally Cantonese, whose parents have lived in China town in Vietnam where I spent the first year of my life there. Yeah...interesting people. Delicious food though. I also had a very nice chat with Alex from London...interesting person.
Monday night I wanted to go play capture the flag with Josh and his friends ( eric and such) at the park, but end up going to meet my cousin, Derek, who is part of this Harvard boys choir who goes around the world singing for the summer. Met up with him at M on the Bund, a uber posh restaurant. Met a few of his fellow travelling buddy, got a delicious meal there. Apparently they sang at the Glamour Bar downstair so they get their meal for free on M on the Bund...therefore I got my meal for free. YAY for expensive free food???!!!!!! The drinks at this place was amazing though. Had a delicious Mango Fresca and had to order this drink called " Nick's snowball" because it's a dirty sexual name for a drink. Turns out...Nick's Snowball is DELICIOUS!!!!! Oh, he took some pictures and there's one in there where I did my obligatory Top Model Eva pose with the skyline of Pudong in the background. Have to find it for you guys. Had to say good bye to my cousin and his friends, they're leaving for Seoul today.
Tonight, went to this vegetarian restaurant that I have always wanted to try. It's Gongdelin. They crafted tofu and other vegetarian stuffs into looking/tasting like meat. DELICIOUS and cheap again!!! I had these pork meat ball with bamboo shoots...can't tell the difference. Yay for crafty vegetarians!!!!
That's about it I guess. Nothing too interesting in Shanghai. Although I'm not too happy that I have a book due Friday afternoon and no one has given me any of the site plans or drawings or anything to be put in this book yet. People are quite unorganize at the firm, i can't sit around on my ass drinking water and checking facebook everyday and having to stay super late on a friday night to finish something that they'll give me 5 minutes before the deadline???? I wonder if DDG is willing to buy out the firm and Val can organize them???....LOL.
Anyway, got to go to bed. I need to eat more veggies. Speaking of which, finally was able to stop by the steamed buns place on my way to work and get some. Delicious breakfast. On monday, it was meat bun. But today, it was veggies buns. Josh didn't appreciate it, but I did. Delicious bok choi. Yay for street food.
Good night all.
